How to Upscale an Image with AI

1

Upload Your Image

Drag and drop or click to upload any JPG, PNG, or WebP image up to 20MB. Your image is processed securely and never stored permanently.

2

Choose a Scale Factor

Select from 1.5× to 4× — or drag the slider for any custom value. A 2× upscale doubles width and height; 4× produces a full 4K-ready output from a 1080p source.

3

Optionally Tune the Prompt

Describe the content (e.g. "portrait photo, realistic skin texture") to guide the AI toward domain-specific detail enhancement. Leave blank to use smart defaults.

4

Download & Use

Compare before/after with the interactive slider, then download the full-resolution result — or send it directly to the AI Video Generator to bring it to life.

Why Use AI Image Upscaler?

Real Detail, Not Stretched Pixels

Unlike browser-based resize, the AI reconstructs realistic textures, sharp edges, and fine detail using a diffusion-based super-resolution model.

Up to 4× Scale

Go from a 1080p photo to a 4K-ready image, or take a small product shot to print quality — all without visible artifacts or softness.

Prompt-Guided Enhancement

Specify the subject type — portrait, landscape, product, architecture — to direct the AI toward the most relevant texture improvements.

Interactive Before / After

Drag the comparison slider to inspect every detail at full resolution before you download, so you always know exactly what you're getting.

Creativity & Resemblance Controls

Dial in how much the AI invents versus how faithfully it preserves the original — crucial for faces, logos, and brand-critical assets.

One-Click to Video

Send your upscaled image directly to the AI Video Generator and animate it into a cinematic clip in seconds.

Common Use Cases

E-commerce Product Photos

Transform small or compressed product images into crisp, zoomable visuals that meet marketplace quality requirements and reduce returns.

Print & Large-Format

Prepare web-resolution photos for billboard, poster, or A3 print — AI upscaling prevents the softness that conventional tools introduce at print scale.

Old Photo Restoration

Breathe new life into scanned or low-resolution archival photos. The AI reconstructs textures and sharpens edges while optionally preserving the original look.

Social Media & Thumbnails

Make sure your YouTube thumbnails, Instagram posts, and OG images look sharp on Retina and high-DPI screens without manual editing.

AI-Generated Image Cleanup

Many AI image generators output at 512–1024px. Use the upscaler to bring them to 2K or 4K for publication, merchandise, or video production.

Video Frame Enhancement

Extract a key frame from a video, upscale it for a thumbnail or poster, then send it back to the AI Video Generator to create a motion sequence.

Common questions

What is an AI image upscaler?
An AI image upscaler uses deep learning — specifically diffusion-based super-resolution — to increase an image's resolution while synthesizing realistic new detail. Unlike conventional bicubic or Lanczos upsampling that simply stretch existing pixels, AI upscaling reconstructs textures, sharpens edges, and fills in plausible fine detail based on patterns learned from millions of high-resolution images.
How much can I upscale an image?
Our tool supports any scale factor from 1× to 4×, including custom values like 1.5×, 2×, 3×, or 3.5×. For a typical 1080p (1920×1080) photo, a 2× upscale produces a 3840×2160 (4K) output. Note that very large upscale factors on already-blurry sources may produce hallucinated detail — for best results, start with the sharpest source available.
What do the Creativity and Resemblance sliders do?
Creativity controls diffusion strength — how much the model is allowed to invent new detail beyond what exists in the source. Higher values add more texture but may deviate from the original. Resemblance controls the ControlNet strength — how closely the output tracks the original's structure and color. For portraits and product shots, keep Resemblance high (0.6–0.8). For landscapes or textures, you can raise Creativity to 0.5+ for richer detail.
Should I fill in the prompt?
The prompt is optional. Leaving it blank applies a sensible default ("masterpiece, best quality, highres"). Providing a subject-specific prompt — such as "portrait photo, realistic skin texture, natural lighting" — helps the model focus on domain-appropriate detail. Use the Negative Prompt field to suppress common issues like blur, noise, or watermarks.
What image formats and sizes are supported?
JPG, PNG, and WebP are supported, up to 20MB per file. For best results, use a source image that is at least 512×512 pixels. Very small thumbnails (under 200px) may produce less convincing results even at high creativity settings.
How is the credit cost calculated?
Credits are calculated based on the output image size: 12 credits per output megapixel, with a minimum of 5 credits. For example, upscaling a 1920×1080 image by 2× produces a 3840×2160 (≈8.3 MP) output, costing approximately 100 credits. The exact cost is shown in real time as you adjust the scale factor.
Can I use upscaled images commercially?
Yes — images you upscale are yours to use freely for any purpose, including commercial use. We do not retain your images after processing.
