How to get a cleaner result
Start with a base image that shows one person, not a group. The model has to decide who to replace; two equally large figures in frame often split the edit. Full-body or three-quarter shots beat tight head-and-shoulders crops when you want clothing to change. Avoid heavy motion blur, tiny subjects, or a silhouette against a blown-out sky — there is not enough body structure to rebuild.
Give the replacement character a similar camera distance and enough of the outfit you want to keep. A studio beauty crop will not carry a streetwear look into a wide outdoor plate. If the first pass changes the face but not the clothes, the reference was probably too tight. Upload a standing or walking full-body still instead of a selfie.
Match the brief to the tool. Character Swap changes who is in the photo. Outfit Swap changes clothes on the person already there. Face Swap changes identity and leaves body and wardrobe. If you only need a new garment on the same model, do not force a full-body replacement reference into the wrong product. After you download, you can still retouch in the AI Image Editor or animate the still.
